The Vanuatu Women’s Center (VWC) is a women’s NGO based in Vila with branches in Santo, Vanualava and Tanna working towards the elimination of violence against women and children in Vanuatu. Established in 1992, the VWC’s work is based on women’s human rights and the empowerment of women. The VWC is looking for a dynamic person for

the position of Counselor for Santo and Vanualava.



Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Providing face to face counseling to clients at VWC and during mobile counseling, as well as follow-up counseling and support to clients of VWC over the telephone and away from the VWC as acquired (eg on islands)

2) Assess clients needs for legal representation and assistance from court

3) Work with Coordinator and Community Educator in identifying target population groups for community education

4) May be required to travel to island for short period

5) Liaising with referral Agencies on cases

6) Accompany clients to referral agencies including kastom courts

7) Do filling for clients’ file

8) Respect confidentially and adhere to counselor protocol/guidelines.

Interested applicant must possess the following requirements:

Criteria:

- Must have year 12 or 13 or higher education; Relevant training or experience in counseling of psychology is desirable

- Understanding of and commitment to human rights & women’s right issue; Good written and oral bislama, english or french language skills.
