CARE is an international humanitarian aid organisation fighting global poverty, with a special focus on working with women and girls to bring lasting change to their communities. As a non-religious and non-political organisation, CARE works with communities to help overcome poverty by supporting development projects and providing emergency relief. We believe supporting women and

girls is one of the most effective ways to create sustainable outcomes in poor communities.

CARE Australia manages the CARE International office in Vanuatu which was established in 2007. CARE’s entry into Vanuatu began with building the resilience of remote and vulnerable communities to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change. CARE Vanuatu’s programs, funded by AusAID and the EU, have reached 19 remote communities across four provinces: Penama,

Torba, Sanma and Tafea. In 2013, CARE consolidated its activities in the province of Tafea with a focus on the remote outer islands of Futuna, Aniwa and Erromango. CARE is continuing its work on building the resilience of remote and vulnerable communities to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change and is planning additional programming on women’s empowerment in the

second half of 2013.

The position require around 50% of the time to be based in the project locations in Tafea Province.

As a member of the CARE Vanuatu team, the FIELD OFFICER will:

work under the direction of the Field Coordinator to ensure the effective implementation of disaster risk reduction and community based adaptation activities, monitoring and reporting.

- The FIELD OFFICER is required to have experience in community development, preferably in the areas of disaster risk reduction and/or climate change adaptation.
