The School of Law is seeking to appoint a Senior Linux/Unix Systems Administrator to work in the Pacific Islands Legal Information Institute (PacLll) managing the IT services for the institute and supervising one IT support staff member.

Duties and responsibilities:

1) Bases at the USP Emalus Campus, Vanuatu and reporting to the Director PacLll you will be responsible to the Head of the school of law for the continous and consistent operation of PacLll's technical services, including maintenance and development of necessary systems software, maintenance and development of networking equipment and resources and maintenance and continued

development of the web site, technical assistance to PacLll staff

2) Assisting with the design, planning and implementation of technical upgrades and improvements as required to meet PacLll's changing requirements

3) Specification for update and renewal of PacLll IT assets

4) You will also represent the institute in the region and internationally, liaise with AusLll and other legal information institutes on IT development and management issues and repond to Helpdesk enquiries.



To be considered for appointment, you must have:

Criteria:

- A masters degree in IT (software development and/or network administration) OR equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training or professional accreditation proficiency in LINUX

systems administrator, especially in change management

- A minimum of 5 years experience in network administration and systems software development including the Perl and C programming language demonstrable experience in operating and maintaining the SINO search

engine

- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in web interface development, web standards and their implementation and that have working knowledge of the South Pacific region

- It is essential that you are self-motivated, a team player and are committed to the organization.

Salary:

Salary range: Band VT3, 972,317 to VT5, 226,733 per annum (inclusive of 15% gratuity)
