Job Description:

"The Women and Girls Empowerment Coordinator will provide overall coordination for the Women and Girls Empowerment Program. This will involve ensuring that the project is implemented in with partnership with government, NGOs and communities. That the program is contextually appropriate for Vanuatu and is meeting the aspirations girls, women, youth and men to address

these issues in their community. The program hopes to contribute and support the work of other organisations in areas such as:

•Supporting the aspirations of Vanuatu Women’s movements (Government and civil society) and the network of gender activists in order to maximise their collective contributions to create the change they want to see in the lives Vanuatu Women and Girls.

•Deepening women’s and girls’ resilience in rural communities through economic and social empowerment and leadership opportunities.

•Contribute to the prevention and reduction of the occurrence of Gender based violence, particularly against young women

•Support the ideas and collectivism of youth gender champions (Girls and Boys) in their efforts to more rapidly promote gender and women’s empowerment changes within youth and society."

Criteria:

- Absolute committed and openness to work with others in support of gender equity and women’s empowerment; Able to build positive relationships with groups, Government, NGOs and other agencies/groups involved

in this sector of Women’s Affairs in Vanuatu.

- Qualifications in a relevant field; Development Social studies, Gender, Health and or minimum of 5 years work experience in the development sector

- Demonstrated work experience in working in the field of Gender and Women and or Girls Empowerment

- Experience in facilitating trainings, meetings and workshops; Able to show leadership, is organised and has maturity in dealing with difficult situations; Open-minded, willing to learn, be motivated and motivate others

- Very good English and Bislama language skills (written and oral). French language skills will be an asset; Proficient IT skills in Word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook; A Vanuatu national.
