Peace Corps Vanuatu wishes to recruit a qualified Ni-Vanuatu for the position of Volunteer Safety and Security Assistant (SSA). This is a part time position and the successful candidate will only require to work half days in a week (20 hrs). The successful candidate selected for this position will be responsible to provide administrative support to the safety and security program for our Peace

Corps volunteers.

The primary responsibilities of the SSA are to ensure that security-related files are kept up-to-date; maintaining the Whereabouts reporting system; assisting in the analysis and reporting of security incidents; Preparing reports, training materials, and other resource material; and maintaining up-to-date contact information for local and national police, transportation, and consolidation

points. In addition, the SSA will act as the back-up to the safety and Security Manager (SSM). The SSA reports to either the Country Director (CD) or the SSM (depending upon the Post who manages the day to day workload. When the SSM is unavailable, the SSA may also be the contact point with the Peace corps Safety and Security Officer (PCSSO), Regional Security Advisor (RSA)

Embassy security officials, and local law enforcemnet agencies in carrying out the responsibilities designated below or as directed by the CD.

Candidates must have the following mandatory qualifications;

The SSA must at minimum possess the following skills and abilities to effectively carry out the duties of the position:

(A Statement of Work can be obtained from the Peace Corps Office, located in the Vila Mall Building)

Required qualifications:


- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with other organiszations, including local law enforcement, criminal justice, emergency management and other NGO/development agencies;

- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills.

- Demonstrated English profiency, both written and oral.

- Demonstrated fluency in Bislama.

- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, and other basic computer knowledge.

- Ability to conduct training and give presentations, in both English and Bislama.

- A high school diploma ( or local equivalent), college degree preferred.

- Additional preferred qualifications such as experience with peace Corps, safety and security programs or law enforcement.
