Job Description:
The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) is rolling out a new curriculum for primary schools, starting with Years 1-3.  This includes providing teacher guides and reading materials for teachers to use in classrooms.
The services of a qualified and experienced graphic designer are required to assist the materials production team in the Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) complete a package of Teacher Guides and reading materials to “print ready” stage.

The consultant will provide technical expertise and capacity building support to the 6 member production team located at CDU.  Although not responsible for the actual production of materials, the consultant will at times assist with workload and provide advice and direction to improve workflow and demonstrate practices that expedite the time it takes to produce materials. In particular, the consultant will familiarise staff in the use of Adobe 6 In-Design and Illustrator and enhance the team’s capacity to use these programs to develop curriculum materials and associated illustrations that can be made available electronically and in print format.  
Hours of work will be flexible and mutually agreed.  The graphic designer will provide just in time support to the production team to ensure quality of production is enhanced and that tasks are completed in a timely manner. 
The Graphic Design Consultant will reach a mutual agreement with CDU with regard to where they work to achieve the deliverables but it is expected that the consultant will spend significant time with the CDU production team based at the Curriculum Development Unit in Malapoa.

  • Year 2 and 3 curriculum support materials packages at print ready stage
  • Improved capacity of the production team to use Adobe Suite 6 applications appropriate for development of print and online publications
  • Improved capacity of the production team with to meet production quality standards
  • Improved capacity of the production team to produce curriculum support materials for publication
  • On the job training for production staff to produce quality design solutions in a timely manner
  • Training workshops for the production team in In-design and other relevant Adobe 6 applications.
