Job Description:
The Vanuatu Red Cross Society, working jointly with the support of the French Red Cross, is seeking applications from dynamic and highly motivated persons to immediately fill up the following position as part of its VRCS management team.  

Criteria:

Applicants are required to demonstrate the following:
  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilisation
  • Demonstrated experience and competencies in water network infrastructure construction (source catchment…..) and plumbing
  • Demonstrated experience and competencies in at least two (2) of the following sectors
  1. Construction with industrial materials (concrete, cement blocks)
  2. Management of construction team, supervision of simultaneous multiple construction site
  3. Construction activities scheduling, reporting
    • University graduate in water, sanitation and hygiene or construction sectors will be an asset
    • Knowledge of the North Tanna geography and access to the communities
    • Ability and flexibility to travel regularly, particularly in the North of Tanna Island
    • Ability and flexibility to live up to 5 days a week in the communities
    • Understanding of disaster risk reduction strategy
    • Base in the communities of North Tanna with Travel to Lenakel
    • To support the project management
    • Driving license required
    • Good computer skills (Word, Excel)
    • Good communication, drafting and presentation skills
    • Team management, training and facilitation skills
    • Interest in sharing professional skills as well as learning from others
    • Open-minded, dynamic and flexible
    • Bislama + English and/or French speaker required

            Job Description:
            A. CELLAR OPERATOR

            Duties 
            The cellar operator is responsible for the beer between the end of fermentation and the bottling or kegging of beer.
            For that, he will be doing 5 main activities according to the production schedule and the quality requirements:

            • Yeast harvest: For each fermentation, the Cellar operator must transfer the yeast from one tank to another fermentation for starting the fermentation of wort
            • Beer chilling: it is the operation of line connection between 2 tanks or more, line sterilization, quick cooling of beer through a heat exchanger to decrease the temperature during the transfer to another tank
            • Beer filtration: after beer chilling, the operator transfers the beer to another tank through a filtration sheet to clarify the beer. The clear beer is ready for the bottling or kegging operators
            • CIP means Cleaning In Place. After every transfer of beer, the tanks and line must be clean with automatic or manual CIP operations 
            • He is also responsible for the yeast propagation with collaboration and supervision of Laboratory
            The staff must be able to handle responsibility, leadership and the pressure of production and quality
            The staff should be a force for proposal for any improvement.
            Responsibilities
            1. Doing the chilling, filtration, CIP operations and the yeast transfer operation regarding the process standard
            2. Ensuring the optimisation of the volume
            3. Minimizing duration and losses during operation
            4. Ensuring the respect of the workings instructions, safety instructions and procedure
            5. Doing routine maintenance of production equipment
            6. Ensuring the respect of product specifications
            7. Cleaning the plant and the equipment (tank, process pipes)
            8. Ensuring respect of food hygiene of the product
            9. Keep all equipment in good working order
            10. Fill the production data sheet daily and after each operation.
            B. BREWER 
            The brewery operator is in charge of the brewhouse and/or the cellar area depending on the production planning.

            Duties
            The brewer is responsible for the brewing and the beer fermentation at VBL industries (VBL Brewery, 7SB…) until it’s ready for stabilisation operation. The staff must be able to handle responsibility, leadership and the pressure of production and quality. The staff should be a force for proposal for any improvement.

            Responsibilities
            • Doing the brewing regarding the process standard and follow the beer in fermentation stage
            • Ensuring the optimisation of the volume according to productivity of brew and duration
            • Minimizing losses during operation
            • Ensuring the respect of the workings instructions, safety instructions and procedure
            • Doing routine maintenance of production equipment
            • Ensuring the respect of product specifications
            • Cleaning the plant and the equipments (mash tun, boiler, whirlpool, hot water tank, cold water tank)
            • Ensuring respect of food hygiene of the product
            • Keep all equipment in good working order
            • Fill the production data sheet daily and after each operation.
