Care International Vanuatu is seeking interested applicant for the position mentioned.

This role is expected to work closely with the Government of Vanuatu’s Natonal Advisory Board (NAB)

on climate change and disaster risk reducton, and within the Government of Vanuatu’s Natonal Acton Plan

(2006-2016) in accordance with basic tenets of Disaster Risk Management, while also referring to CARE’s

models of Emergency Preparedness Planning (EPP). It is expected that the Program Director will be an integral member of various steering commitees and represent CARE in related forums, to assist with the directon and oversight of common program standards and practces, processes, monitoring and evaluaton, gender and diversity, and knowledge

and informaton sharing. The positon will also liaise closely with the Vanuatu Humanitarian Team (VHT) and other local and INGOs operatng in the development sector in Vanuatu.

The Program Director will be responsible for:

1) The overall management of CARE Vanuatu‘s development and program actvites

2) This includes direct line management of the Program Manager and Operatons Manager. Initally, it is envisaged that approximately 70% of the Program Director’s tme will be spent on overall management and 30% on directon of projects supportng the Program Manager.

The Project Manager, School Community Disaster Management will:

1) Plan, coordinate and oversee implementation of a DipECHO funded Education Sector Disaster Management for School Community Disaster Management Project

2) Work closely with the Ministry of Education, NDMO and stakeholders from the Vanuatu Humanitarian Team (VHT) to develop and deliver education and training programs that build awareness and capacity for school disaster management at national, provincial and local levels to support community risk reduction, preparedness and resilience.
