The Markets for Change (M4C) project brings together governments, market vendors and market vendor associations, civil society organizations and UN agencies to promote gender equality through economic empowerment of women market vendors in Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. M4C is implemented by UN Women in partnership with UNDP and the Governments of Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Task description
The role of the M4C Project Officer is to support the M4C Vanuatu Project Coordinator in the implementation of activities and monitoring of project information. This includes supporting actions in the field, including support to training, monitoring, data collection, undertaking research and reporting.
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the M4C Vanuatu Project Coordinator or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV M4C Project Officer will support:
a) Implementation:
• support the development of activities to support the objectives of the M4C project and in line with its design, including identification of options for delivering activities and possible partners;
• support the logistical arrangements for activities, including in relation to procurement, event management and partnerships;
• attend activities and events as required, to support with their delivery;
provide secretariat support to Project Working Committee and Project Management Committee meetings in Vanuatu as and when needed;
• undertake administrative and financial tasks to facilitate timely delivery and implementation of program areas, including onboarding of selected consultants.
b) Monitoring
• support monitoring of activities against the Annual Work Plan, to ensure the timely delivery of project activities;
• support the monitoring of partner agreements, including financial and narrative reporting;
• monitor the workflows and progress of consultants against agreed work plans;
• assist with project monitoring as input to internal reporting (RMS) and reporting to donors;
• support surveying of beneficiaries, including through face-to-face interviews as part of project monitoring;
• contribute to data collection in line with the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Framework.
c) Communications
• Assist where practicable, with the development of publications, merchandise, advocacy materials and media outreach.
d) Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and
opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
Results/expected outputs:
As an active UN Women team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UN Women and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:
• The work and activities of the M4C project in Vanuatu contribute to the project goal that women market vendors are economically empowered;
• High quality, well organized and well targeted project activities are supported and delivered in Vanuatu;
• Administrative and financial assistance provided to support the delivery of the project in Vanuatu;
• Project monitoring is undertaken, in line with the project MELF, and including monitoring of activities, data collection and surveying of beneficiaries;
Publications, merchandise, advocacy materials and media outreach are prepared on the work of
M4C in Vanuatu;
• Donor reports on M4C are prepared that include information on the work of M4C in Vanuatu;
• Knowledge gained about relevant policies and programmes;
• Personal communication skills developed;
• Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and
documented in all activities throughout the assignment;
• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

Skills and experience

• Whilst years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level is not a requirement, it is highly regarded, including volunteer, unpaid or paid work experience completed by university graduates
• Experience working on programme implementation is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;

Job Desctiption:

Iririki Island Resort & Spa is seeking a suitable candidate to appoint for the role of Plumber within our organisation.

The plumber will be reporting to the Project Manager.
Duties include but will not necessarily be limited to the following:
• Assemble, installing, repairing and maintaining the plumbing systems to include sewer lines, plumbing in each building, and water lines.
• Completing work orders that may include other general maintenance, such as assisting maintenance staff in completion of tasks.
• Inspecting designated work areas and buildings for problems, completion of identified problems and report to Supervisor.
• Troubleshoot and repair pipe and pipeline systems
• Maintain and repair septic and commercial sewer systems
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures

 

Selection Criteria:

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
• Proven work experience in plumbing, maintenance, or other related field
• Ability to handle physical workload
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a certified plumber
