Job Description:

In collaboration with its tripartite constituents representing the government, the workers and the employer of Vanuatu, the ILO office for pacific island countries is planning activities to help address youth unemployment in SHEFA province. The project will be implemented under the governance of SHEFA provincial council, and will build on the success of the SHEFA

roads market project by targeting unemployed youth around Efate. Sustainable local employment will be created by applying the ILO ‘training for rural economic empowerment’ (TREE) tools and methodology. The successful candidate will be on merit by demonstrating their ability to deliver a positive and sustainable impact through the project to unemployed youth in

SHEFA province. Interested candidates should submit a letter of application in English. The letter should explain why they are applying for the position, and what skills they would bring to the job. Relevant examples from previous experience to illustrate the candidate’s ability should be included in the letter. The letter can include a CV outlining educational

Interested applicant must possess the following requirements:

Criteria:

- Understanding of youth unemployment issues in Vanuatu and passion to address these in a practical manner; Knowledge of the rural economy, micro business development and vocational skills training;

Ability to understand, contextualize and apply the ILO TREE methodology in SHEFA province; Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders including chiefs, SHEFA province council, ILO’s

tripartite constituents and rural youth

- Maturity to deal with the responsibility and workload involved in managing a project; A creative mind and proven ability to take initiative; Excellent administrative skills including bookkeeping and use of

mocrosoft word, excel and powerpoint

- The ability to uphold to the highest standards the integrity of the ILO as a specialized agency of the United Nations in Vanuatu; Fluency in bislama and english; Education certificate are an advantage but not

essential.
