Job Description: The Vanuatu Strategic Tourism Action Plan (VSTAP), as part of its mandate to improve stakeholder communication, is providing support to assist the Department of Tourism (DoT) and the Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) and other stakeholders with the organisation, coordination and promotion of Tourism Special Events in 2017 and 2018, including the National Tourism Awards and the National Tourism Forum. VSTAP is seeking the services of a specialist consultant (firm or individual) to undertake this project as a matter of high priority.

Criteria: Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Applicants will need to be based in Port Vila and will need to demonstrate that they have the following business development experience, tourism industry knowledge, skills and experience. At least 7 years’ work experience, with demonstrated experience working with Vanuatu-based businesses or programs/events in the Vanuatu tourism sector showing strong familiarity with the tourism product offering in the tourism sector A practical and supportive approach with high level mentoring skills that is appropriate to Vanuatu and its Melanesian culture Must have appropriate local business licence or working permit to be contracted locally Excellent communication skills, in both written and oral English, with a fluency in Bislama being an advantage Practical experience working with industry stakeholders in the private, public, community and civil society sectors A practical, hands-on approach to solving problems with a demonstrated track record of successful delivery in similar projects Ability to work effectively under time pressure with high capacity to produce quality work.
