Where you come in:
Based in Port Vila, Vanuatu you will provide technical leadership and advice for the design, implementation and monitoring of health programme-related activities by Save the Children in Vanuatu, notably in the fields of Nutrition, and Sexual and Reproductive Health. Your willingness to travel for up to 30% of your time to support programme implementation, occasionally work unusual hours and occasionally in stressful conditions will see you become an integral member of the Save the Children Vanuatu team.

You will make an impact by:
  • Designing and supporting delivery of high quality health programmes in Vanuatu
  • Coordinating Save the Children’s health programme activities in Vanuatu through active participation in coordination meetings and working groups.
  • Establishing systems for health programme monitoring, quality improvement, accountability, evaluation and learning
  • Ensuring that learning and results are captured, shared and used to inform future programmes.
If we could compose the perfect you…
…You have significant experience of working in community-based health programming, as well as health system strengthening, preferably in the Pacific. You have excellent representation and advocacy skills and are comfortable working with senior government representatives. Patience, tact and diplomacy, couple with strong interpersonal skills will see you hold a level of awareness to always be culturally sensitive. Excellent English written and oral communications skills, which translates to strong proposal writing skills will show your effectiveness in engaging with major donors. Being known as a mentor, you have a proven track record of training and building the capacity of local partner organizations and their staff.

Criteria:
This role requires:
  • Post-graduate qualifications in public health or related field and/or 5-8 years of international work experience, including with NGOs
  • Extensive experience in maternal and child health and nutrition programme development and support, preferably in the Pacific
  • Demonstrated experience in effective fundraising, representation and capacity building skills.
