Organisation Description:
We are a small, family-run retail shop located in a fairly remote and quiet area of Vanuatu, with relatively low customer traffic and a peaceful working environment. The shop operates on a small scale, with basic facilities and equipment. It is generally run by one staff member per shift and we sell everyday retail goods, groceries, beverages and perishable items. The shop operates seven days a week, including weekends and holidays.
Job Desctiption:
The position involves working independently, with one staff member responsible for running the shop during each shift. Daily duties mainly include serving customers and processing sales at the cash register, handling cash and giving change, restocking shelves, arranging goods, general cleaning and basic record keeping. Accommodation is available for staff who would prefer to stay near the shop. Options include single-employee accommodation or shared bunk-style accommodation at a lower rental cost. Staying on-site is not compulsory, but it is encouraged as it makes managing the early morning shift and opening the shop on time more convenient.
Morning Shift: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (includes closing the shop and locking up for the night).
Selection Criteria:
Honest, trustworthy and responsible, particularly when handling cash and shop goods.
Reliable and punctual, with the ability to consistently attend scheduled shifts.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Basic numeracy skills, including handling money, calculating change and recording sales.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to carry out general shop duties, including cleaning, restocking and maintaining the shop.
Able to follow instructions and maintain accurate basic records.
Flexible and available to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
Salary:
12,500 VT/Week
