Job Description:
Looking for a new, exciting challenge for 2018? We are Vanuatu’s largest inbound tour operator, based in Port Vila, with operations in outer islands. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced person to join our company as General Manger.

If you are motivated, can motivate those around you and are passionate about the travel and tourism industry, then this role is for you. As General Manager, key responsibilities will include:
  • Overall management of the business: ensuring the efficient day to day running of the business including operations, finance and administration
  • Reporting to the Directors on financial performance, operations, etc
  • Human Resources management: staff recruitment, training and development 
  • Achieving/exceeding sales targets and managing operating expenses to achieve/exceed budgeted profits
  • Implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the professional operation of the business
  • Ensuring the successful and smooth operation of all cruise-ships including dispatch of passengers on tours
  • Liaising with all cruise-ship shore excursion managers to ensure the seamless delivery of daily tour programmes
  • Management and administration of the “Tour Operator Gateway” software programme
  • Relationship building and networking with industry stakeholders including Vanuatu Destination Marketing Agency, Port Vila Cruise Ship Committee, Vanuatu Hotel and Resorts Association and Vanuatu Tour Operators Association
  • Contract negotiations and documentation with sub-contractors
  • Preparation of FIT itineraries and quotes.
          Criteria:
          Experience Required:
          This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team and contribute positively to a vibrant work culture. Previous experience of managing a team and a proven track record of achieving success is required. The ideal candidate will have worked in a management role for a minimum of 10 years. Key requirements include:
          • Management experience at a senior level reporting to Directors
          • Relevant qualifications and/or experience in travel and tourism
          • An in-depth understanding of the tourism industry 
          • Experience dealing with offshore and onshore travel trade
          • The ability to prioritise workload and lead a business 
          • Excellent networking and relationship management skills
          • Strong attention to detail is essential as you will be required to control and administer the “Tour Operator Gateway” software programme
          • Excellent time management skills
          • Excellent communication and presentation skills
          • Analytical and problem-solving skills 
          • The ability to lead and grow a team of dedicated employees
          • Technologically savvy including experience with Microsoft, Xero accounting software, fleet management reservations systems.
