About the Utilities Regulatory Authority
The URA was established under the Utilities Regulatory Authority Act No. 11 of 2007The Authority acts independently of the Government and its primary purpose is to increase access to safe, reliable and affordable electricity and water services, and to promote the long-term interests of consumers throughout Vanuatu. In addition, the Authority assists to resolve consumer complaints and disputes and advises the Government on matters related to electricity and water. 

The Utilities Regulatory Authority (“the URA”) is seeking to recruit a Legal officer in utility regulation
The URA is seeking to engage an individual to the position of Legal Officer. Annual salary for the position is Vatus 2.4 million and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.  

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
      Criteria:
      • A law degree from a recognized institution preferably in the region;
      • Two year experience in legal analysis in public or private organization;
      • Competent to perform legal analysis, legal search, draft legal notices, regulations, legislative  amendments and commission orders;
      • Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment;
      • Have good communication, and negotiations skills.
      Candidates with advanced degree, higher levels of experience and analytical skills will be given preference and suitable compensation.
