Job Desctiption:
Nicon Shipping is seeking experienced Marine Engineers to join our Vessels & Crew team in Luganville, Espiritu Santo.
This is a hands-on marine engineering role supporting the operation, maintenance and reliability of our inter-island cargo vessels operating throughout Vanuatu.
We are looking for engineers with strong practical experience in medium-speed and high-speed marine diesel engines, propulsion systems and vessel machinery
Selection Criteria:
Essential Technical Experience
Applicants must have proven marine engineering experience and practical knowledge of:
• CPP – Controllable Pitch Propeller propulsion systems
• Marine propulsion gearboxes and associated hydraulic systems
• Cummins marine diesel engines
• Mitsubishi marine diesel engines
• Deutz marine diesel engines
• Callesen marine engines
• Diesel fuel injection systems
• Marine cooling and lubrication systems
• Engine-room pumps and auxiliary machinery
• Marine generators and electrical generation systems
• Fault finding, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance
Experience dismantling, rebuilding and carrying out major repairs on marine diesel engines will be highly regarded. Requirements
• Previous experience working as a Marine Engineer on commercial vessels is essential
• Must hold current and valid Marine Engineer qualifications, licences, certificates and tickets appropriate to the position
• Must have practical experience working with CPP propulsion systems
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Able to work independently and make practical engineering decisions when vessels are operating away from port
• Must be available and willing to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of the normal vessel operating roster
