The Northern Islands Stevedoring Company Limited (NISCOL) Port Services is a Limited Company owned by the following shareholders: SANMA Province (30%), MALAMPA Province (20%), PENAMA Province (20%), TORBA Province (10%), Luganville Municipal Council (10%) and the Vanuatu Government (10%). The Company operates all stevedoring and transportation of international cargoes at Luganville in Santo, Republic of Vanuatu.
Job Desctiption:
The Northern Islands Stevedoring Company Limited (NISCOL) is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Operations Accountant to join the company's Finance Department. This is a new position, and the successful candidate will be expected to provide critical support, with technical and financial skills required towards establishing a variety of strategic investment initiatives and be able to interpret, resolve, and deliver timely and accurate analytical strategic outputs. The position reports directly to the company's Group Finance Manager on all matters relating to finance and investment.

Job Responsibilities:
- Routine accounting operations and preparation of financial statements for NISCOL and its subsidiaries.
- Monitor, interpret and report financial and investment performance data analysis.
- Assist in handling investment management and regulatory reporting of the company's investment portfolios.
- Fixed assets management.
- Liaison with external auditors.
- Maintain and ensure sound and effective financial controls, alignment, compliance and operational efficiency between NISCOL and all associated subsidiaries.
- Manage internal business controls while ensuring adherence to operational risk, regulatory guidelines and conduct standards.
- Ensure all financial practices comply with established accounting standards and relevant tax regulations.
- Assist the Group Finance Manager in supervising, training and providing guidance to the Finance team.
- Conduct performance appraisals for team members whilst monitoring work progress and maintaining consistent standards of productivity.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business and commerce/management, with a major in accounting and finance.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in operational planning, accounting and finance, forecasting, quality control, strategy, asset registry and supply chain.
- Proficient in MYOB/Xero or other accounting software systems.
- Hands on experience and understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards and financial statement preparations.
- Excellent analytical, supervisory and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality of work.
- Excellent Excel and MS Office skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A valid driver's license.
- Available to work extra hours and weekends when required.
